Wrexham Youth Service Inset

Objectives

The Comedy Trust were asked to deliver a morning session as part of the Wrexham Youth Service Inset day. The session was delivered at their headquarters by one of our professional stand up comedians and explored how and why humour and comedy can play a positive role in engaging young people.

Workshops

Techniques and exercises were demonstrated that could be used to foster positive relationships between young people and teachers / youth workers, and help build transferrable skills in young people such as confidence and self esteem. The workshop also explored how to encourage the positive use of humour with young people. Participants were encouraged to get involved with the activities, with the onus remaining firmly on how these approaches could be transferred to the young people they work with.

Outcomes

''The workshops have underlines for me the importance of using humour when working with young people''

Craig Matthews, Manger, Wrexham youth Service.

New strategies and ideas are always useful and welcome; good part of this workshop was that we learnt and laughed at the same time, which is an excellent way to start the new terms.
