The Creative Health forum took place on Thursday 18th October 2007. This half day event provided an opportunity for health and educational professionals to discuss how creativity can and is being used to promote and enhance health and well-being across Merseyside. The afternoon included case studies, stand up comedy, discussion groups, networking opportunities and lots of laughter.
Key speakers included Julie Hanna, Creative Health and Well-being Manager for Liverpool Culture Company Simon Howes, Development Co-ordinator for CALM Merseyside and Elizabeth Lovell, Creative Referralofficer for the Creative Alternatives Programme in Sefton. Entertainment was provided by stand up comedian Brendan Riley who gave the audience a taster of his latest show Happy Days which explores what it means to be happy.
Some of the topics explored during the event included:
Can using laughter techniques in the workplace have an effect on
people's health and Well-being?
How does creativity positively impact on the culture of the healthcare
environment?
How can we harness the power of comedy when working with men in the
field of health promotion / positive mental health promotion?
Participant Feedback:
Very enjoyable and informative. Gave insight to areas of mental health
and well-being I had not thought of before. Good mixture of information
and humour.
A well organised event -its great to have a discussion like this taking
place in Sefton and I hope that it can be repeated next year.
Really enjoyed the event, speakers and discussion group. Gave me lots
of ideas as to how I can work with patients better
